It has been a long, hot summer...that produced an abundance of veggies and fed me well. The zinnias, Mexican sunflowers, and dalias are all that's left blooming in the side border. And the much anticipated autumn clematis has just started blooming in the white garden.
Hard to believe that the last days of summer are here...at least the temps during the day sometimes get near 80...although you need blankets to sleep at night.
A few years ago Faith Lowell produced her last litter of TTs. My Naldo was the dad. I took a spectacular little sable girl from that litter. She iconically has been the face of my FaceBook profile. Faith named her "Madonna" because this little girl was in the "Ain't Misbehavin" line. It was a Madonna song...Causin' A Commotion...following in the theme of this line.Hence:

The years passed. Faith was living a life without her beloved TTs. So Madonna (after doing her thing here at Kiara) went back to keep Faith company. A match made in heaven!
Madonna made her mark here in a number of ways. Her last effort was to give me a little girl as a parting gift: her name is Jessica. She too is out of the "Ain't Misbehavin" line.

The summer was also a time to get out to the dog shows. Bolt finally grew back enough hair after his abdominal surgery that removed the stone he decided to swallow. (Bad puppy!) It took almost a year...there was a lot that was shaved down to the skin and a lot that just got groomed out or fell out because of the anesthesia and surgery. But now he needs just a few single points to achieve his AKC championship title. 
Also got Miss Tsarina out. She is the special issue from a frozen semen breeding. Her dad, Echo, passed many years ago. CH Metshag Little Sir Echo made one pretty daughter! I don't know if she is as talented as her dad...he has a slew of letters after his name (lots of different kinds of titles). Or maybe it's just that I'm not as talented as Mr. Echo's loving owner Linda Milbrath.This is a favorite photo of mine of this very special dog. I can only share in the story as I imported his dad, Asland, from the Hocking's Tsering Kennel.

The summer was also a joyous time for puppies. Miss Doris, CH Kiara Promethean Fire At Terpsichorean, was successfully bred to my Bolt...and they are the proud parents of three little ones. Travis, Miles, and Jane entrusted their little jewel in my care to raise the brood. Doris competently did her part and I muddled through doing mine.
Travis and Vanessa came up to visit the pups and help make decisions. It's always fun to "go over" the little ones, watch them in a variety of ways, and just enjoy their joyous natures. We all had fun...little furry ones and those on two legs as well.
Especially happy was Miss Doris! As much as she was at home here at Kiara being a mom, caring for her brood...she was ready to go home.
And with the blessings of those that we celebrate as beginnings...there are those we sadly see to the rainbow bridge. I am always glad I hear about the little ones who leave here, their successes...their failures...throughout their lives from their loving owners. And when they share the sorrow of a passings, I share it with them. That is the case of Lucy.

Our beloved Lucy passed away last Friday. She was 12 years old and had a great life with the family. We got her in November 2008. I can’t remember her parents’ names but her mom was sable and very smart!!!
Not now but next year we would like a puppy. Please let us know when you have puppies!!!
When my son left for college, Lucy moved into his room. She was quite spoiled and loved.

Not sure if you got this –did not show “delivered” --this is last month just after Charlie had been groomed. FYI, he is being neutered this coming Thursday. He’s a beautiful dog!

Maya is getting so beautiful, other dog owners and the staff at the vets are all falling in love with her. She is the prettiest, sweetest best puppy ever!

Was thinking of you. Phoenix just received his last shot on Tuesday. He now weighs 16.9 pounds! Such a smart boy. I am finally able to focus on his training more (which has absolutely also benefited Duffy.)
He’s not as much of a cuddler as I thought, but when I am sad he stays close. And when Duffy was freaking out because of the thunderstorm (I was worried he would teach the puppy to be scared), Phoenix immediately came over to the shaking Duffy and started licking his face. Duffy started to calm down. Phoenix then rested his head on Duffy’s neck. Eventually Phoenix just curled up next to him until the storm was over and Duffy was completely calm. What an amazing puppy I have!

Thought you would like to know that Archi is acclimating very well to his new Vermont home, having lots of fun, walking, eating and taking big steps toward being housebroken! He’s making best friends with the kitten “Maya”, wrestling, and playing like they were littermates.

Was thinking of you… actually I think of you often when I looked at Anandi who is now three years old. She has a tricks title, and can easily get her CGC. This pup is the most secure, fun-loving, and loving dog. I can’t thank you enough.

Hi Dennis,
Sad news—actually heartbreaking. We had Jack at the vet today to figure out what is going on with him. (primarily incontinence and difficulty doing his other business)
Our vet diagnosed him as having prostate cancer with a life expectancy from 1 to 6 months. We are devastated to say the least. I so wanted him to experience snow when we move back north. (We haven’t been without a dog in 29 years.) He is such a love. The sweetest dog we ever had. You were so right about his sweetness!
I can’t believe how symbolic this all is—he came into our lives when we moved here and now we plan to sell the house and we probably won’t have him with us when we move back. Paul and I are just so heartbroken.

Oh my, I have never had or seen a better dog than GiGi. She is simply the best. Everyone loves her.
You have intimated that you would have puppies in August --which means September. I want a GiGi II.

We are enjoying Liam. He was mellow at first, but now he is testing his limits and full of mischief! See him at my cookbooks!
Now that he is four month old I want to go to two meals a day. How much do you recommend for feeding?
