Spring 2023

Spring has come. Flowers are blooming!

Cold weather veggies planted in the veggie patch already. And now about two weeks later are flourishing.

And Spring arrived with the promise of some other interesting activities!

The most recent Kiara graduates are in their new homes. Sometimes it's an easy transition and sometimes it's a bit more difficult...but all are happily in their new loving homes. Happy to hear how they settling in.

Hi Dennis,

We are doing very well settling in together.

I wanted to write you about the pup’s name. We’ve been cycling through names and I’m not sure we’ve settled yet. However, Pluto is one of the names and I was thinking of making his official name…Kiara Pluto Is A Planet. I am told that using Kiara requires your permission. I don’t have to use Kiara but I assume from the form you filled out that you wanted me to do so. Let me know if this name meets your approval.

Pluto – Nemo – Gussie is settling in very well. He’s got a fabulous temperament and has taken everything in stride, winning hearts from all who meet him. He had his first play date Friday evening and it went brilliantly. I set another up for this Wednesday. I hope to get both of us going to puppy training class for more socialization but I’m having trouble finding one. I wonder if you can recommend a place to go to join a small class?

Thanks very much,

Carol

Hi Dennis,

Toby is growing up more every day and really likes to explore the yard (photo attached). Also a photo of Toby and Benny resting together. They seem to be really bonding.

Joyce – thanks for your reference to Dennis.

Waited to post this new edition of The News & Reviews as Michael McLoughlin and I went to the TTCA National Specialty in Hunt Valley Maryland. Was fun to get to play again (show a TT) but also fun to meet up with many old associates and meet a few new ones.

The facility was full of space to help prepare all the TTs for their moment in the spotlight. And you would see lots of brushes out when walking through the grooming areas.

There were tables laden with beautiful ribbons for all the winners in all the classes of all the competitions. Even the Futurity had a larger entry than I can ever remember.

Mike McLoughlin exhibited Ozzy (Kiara Let's Set The World On Fire At Lukilu) and I exhibited his mom Keys (CH Kiara This Girl Is On Fire).

Doris (CH Kiara Promethean Fire At Terpsichorean)
exhibited in the Veteran classes (can't believe she's a veteran already!).  She knew I was across the ring and was trying to figure out just where I was sitting. Such a smart girl.

Doris also competed in Rally. She placed 2nd in Intermediate...qualifying her and now is a new titleholder! Way to go Doris and handler Jane.

Doris also passed the Canine Good Citizen Urban and Advanced for two additional titles.

Keep those notes and photos coming in. Always love hearing how the bigger family fares. Special days...like birthdays and even the smallest πŸ’•πŸ’•notes...are all welcome and very appreciated.

Hi Dennis,

We celebrated Jai Alai 6th birthday today! She enjoyed a pup cup from Starbucks, a lovely walk to the Seaport, bacon at Better Bagels, and treats from Polkadog Bakery. She is good as gold and a neighborhood favorite. She continues to have so much spunk, is so sweet, and is the best companion. Those eyes go straight to your soul! Thank you for bringing her into our lives! Hope to see you soon at the TT meet up!

Best

Hi Dennis,

This is basically the email we are sending to friends and family as well as Panda’s fan club... I hope I get to all of them by February 11th. As you know Panda has long list of admirers!

On February 11th we will be welcoming home this little guy. Like Panda, he is a Tibetan Terrier. There is no
terrier in this breed but they are from Tibet and are often referred to as the Dalai Lama dog. They are known for their agility and companionship.

A special thank you to all those who suggested names for a new puppy. We are finally settled on Rocco which is shot for Rachmaninoff. Our son-in-law is a concert pianist and after taking one look at the paws as well as the shape of this puppys head and eyes, noticed an immediate resemblance.  Rachmaninoff had big hands and this little guy does seem to have big hands--or should I say paws. Rocco will also now have his own theme music as well as a most distinctive name!

He is such a good pup...the apartment is now booby trapped with toys etc. And yes, that was my Whole Foods bag until recently. Thankfully it's warmer today so we can have a short outdoor outing. We will see our new vet for the first time. She will be bowled over by this charmer. They have a pre-k program which sounds promising. The first class is owners only...good idea!

Thank you,

Judy

Hi Dennis,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you about the puppy’s name. It’s Pickles. She is doing fine… getting really big. I think she is going to be a big girl. What is her mothers weight? If you have any other info that we should know, please let us know. If there is any info on her that I think you may want to know as a breeder, I will share with you.

So far she seems very bright and it’s getting housetrained on a schedule. Please let me know if you receive this message.

Hi Dennis,

Hope you’re doing well! Emei is so wonderful – we couldn’t have asked for a better puppy! I attach some recent pics of her.

Is it standard practice to get three or four initial distemper vaccines? I ask because our vet had originally scheduled her for three (in addition to the one she had with you – so 4 total), but then they told us she only needs to get two more  of them (so 3 total), and they wouldn’t give us a reason except to say that she didn’t need the 4th one. I saw on the forms you gave us that there were 4 dates for distemper vaccine (last one by 4/19), so just wanted to check with you to see how many people typically get?

Thank you!

Stephanie

Brother Lenny came to visit for a week as his owners had a planned vacation (and I always like to take pups back here when they are still wee... where they have lived and learned.) His older cousins Pink and Chicklette enjoyed his company...rough as it may look they had a good time.

Hey Dennis,

πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•forever...isn’t she beautiful! They love each other. We've got a third one planned in the next few years.
